I’ll give an example. The Federal Law that is probably going to be passed soon that requires restaurants to list calorie counts on their menus.

So let’s say that the law is passed. Well the thing is, when a business opens, it is the state, not the federal government, that issues the business license.

So suppose that if and when this federal law is passed requiring them to post calorie counts, a state just said, “Yeah, no, don’t worry about doing that, we won’t enforce it.”

What’s the federal government going to do?

I would like to know how different countries legally deal with marriage between partners from different religions or atheists. I do NOT ask for the religious views to this matter but the legal situation of citizens of different states. My questions are: Does it matter at all which religions the partners have? Is marriage under the authority of civil or religious institutions or can you choose whether to marry civil or religious? Is intermarriage permitted by the state? If not, does the state register a couple that married abroad as married? Does the conversion of one partner to another religion during marriage have legal consequences? Are intermarried couples discriminated by law? In case intermarriage is prohibited:Does the state encourage conversion of 1 partner for the sake of marriage or not?
Of course I am mainly interested about the situation in countries which are not democracies but religious states

And law of independent assortment is “each set of alles segregates independent of other alleles”

I am (my fraternity) is planning to create and host a Tackle Football Tournament for adults 18 and older at my university. I was wondering of any legal liability surrounding such an event. For any possible injuries that could be sustained by both players and spectators. What my legal responsibilities for hosting such an event and what are some ways to protect myself if such an occurrence where to happen?

The US government, or individual state governments, continue essential services even during a shutdown when the legal spending authority has lapsed. For example, that’s happening in Minnesota now.

I understand the rationale for this. But I’m trying to find the specific legal and/or constitutional basis which allows some government operations and services to be continued. What are the legal provisions in the US constitution or the US code which allow this?

Similarly, what about individual states, such as Minnesota?
