Are there any laws in California concerning renting churches?

I’m planning on having a concert where we have admission fees and then sell concessions. I’m not sure if there are any laws about any of this, I don’t want to do anything illegal.

Contact city hall in the city/town where the event will be held. They may require you to have a permit to hold the event, and they may collect sales tax for ticket and concession sales, even if it’s a church or non-profit organization. The permit may also list health code requirements if you’re preparing food for sale.
