How Was the Statue of Liberty Installed?

My step dad is american (Im canadian) and I was thinking, the statue of liberty is pretty old, and was wondering how they put it there. Were cranes used or what?
I know it was a gift but what im asking is its such a HUGE statue, like they obviously didnt lift it by hand across the ocean and then just kinda had god reach down his hand and put it where it now sits. so im asking did they use cranes? did they build it in steps or what?

    We built the base.
The statue was shipped from France (at our expense, I THINK).
A crane was used to place the statue on the base.

I think it came in one piece - maybe three at most. You should look this up.
Yeah, the French are great at statues… Wouldn’t it be nice if they put their minds to other things - like helping people.
They used to be great - but you can’t live on past glory forever. And not ONE MORE WORD on how THEY and THEY ALONE won the Wars.
