What do you think about a law that would require all illegal, male immigrants to serve in our military?

It seems that many people have an issue with illegal immigrants not trying to be American, well, what better way to prove your loyalty to America than serving in our military. Why not provide basic training to the illegal immigrants who qualify and upon serving five years in the military, earning wages like all other soldiers, they get legal status?
We have plenty of Spanish-speaking units as evidenced by the Puerto Rican presence in the current and past wars and I’m sure that there are soldiers that speak the languages of other illegal immigrants also.
Would this solution satisfy those of you who would like to deport all illegal immigrants?

Metro: yes, I agree, the war is ridiculous, but when we think about the reasons why many of our soldiers are in the armed forces it’s because they can’t afford to go to college or they can’t get a decent job right out of high school. This would give the illegal immigrants a decent-paying job that is legal and would also be accepted by many of the right-wing send them all back groups.

Kroll: Whether their allegiance was to Mexico or the United States, they would be helping us in our endeavors and gaining valuable skills so if they want to return to their country afterwards at least they will have better opportunities there. I don’t think Mexico will be invading the US with their military any time soon.

mamadixie: they would be earning the same wages as our military, so it’s not slavery.

Yars: the bill only covers draft time, which we aren’t in, I think it would be something beneficial to all at all times, as long as the illegal immigrant has the physical capacity.

    At first it sounds good but if you think about it,do you want people who lied and cheated to defend your country?I would feel better knowing they were honorable people first.
